Bit of a weird one, this.....been riding for over 40 years now....but just started to get the inkling to do some laid-back trails riding.......Road bike is FJR13 but thinking of dobbing that in in the summer and buying one of the new Guzzi 850TTs.........might get a Himalayan in the short term just to get into it.....Whaddya all think? Am I mad, or is this do-able? Any tips? I've had a GS12 in the past, but it was an unreliable, Friday afternoon POS.......never really used it as it was meant to be used......you could hardly take it out on the road without wondering if you were gonna get back home again, let alone taking it down any green lanes!

Cheers

Hi mate if it helps I have a himalayan nearly 6k on it now and more than happy with the purchase. I've 2 niggles which are being relolved at the moment, clocks misting up and pannier rail quality of paint finish is poor not the same standard as the rest of the bike. I'm waiti g on replacements under warranty. On the whole v happy with the purchase, it sits happy at 65 with pillion and luggage which is fine for me. I must say though the guzzi looks great ill be making sure I take a look at one when they make their way to the showrooms. I got the himalayan on a half day test ride and was v happy and put a deposit down.
Here's some pics of mine today, cleaned and given another coat of acf50 as I've been using it all year round.
Keep us in the loop with your purchase

Welcome aboard,

The RE seems like a great bike if you like a laid back ride. Very popular and even the looks are growing on me.

Hi to everyone who kindly responded.....yes, I am encouraged and will keep on. Himalayan test ride will probably be in about a month or so.....Mike H, if you're in Stourbridge do you fancy a meet-up and a cuppa somewhere? Very nice pictures of your bike......looks good. It would be great to get the chance to have a look at the beast close up and chat to an actual rider? I live quite near Stratford on Avon so not a million miles away. Got a mate who I think you might know as JRH who would likely be up for the ride as well. Thank you all again for your responses.

Cheers

Welcome Speedy. I have a Himalayan too. Done 7500 kms in the last 2.5 months on it in all kind of terrain, even dropped it in the middle of a river crossing. It is a gentle sweet well balanced bike and I would describe it as a "gravel" bike. Great for exploring at a leisure pace which in my case suits me to a tee. It is a bike well worth considering. Easy to service if you are into that too and sure the cheapest bike I have ever had serviced at a dealer.
