Just to give you an option to minkys setup. I use pro taper mini high bars and zeta risers. After buggering about with the cables and controls it does work on standard cables but there's no spare, on the limit.

Nice one scoobydidler, appreciate it...

What height were the zeta risers did you used? I think thats the key thing now...

Your mini high bars have the following dimensions...
Mini HIGH:
A=775 B=105 C=76 D=221 E=52 F=200
vs the stock rally, which I understand to be
A=798 B=96 C=64 D=191 E=72 F=????

So, if I know what height risers you had (and if they were offset or not), I think I have all the info I need.

Cheers,

Roy

either way 2inch rox types will fit ..you need to cant the bars forward and cant the levers down ..realease the insrument leccy leads and release the throttle cables from the top or bottom guides .. cant remember

cum uppence is thew will fit ..you just have to fiddle for a while ...cables handguards so they dont hit screen o sat nav but whichever brand you choose they go on ok after a fiddlestorm session ..

Minkyhead, you are a life saver. Only just mentioned you in a mail I sent to Catcitrus re the bashplates!

Do you know which bend of bars you went with? I can then lookup the dimensions of the ones you have, and make sure I get something similar (we know yours fit with stock cables, albeit a bit fiddly - so want to stay on safe ground with the bars). So if you can let me know they bar you went with that would be ace...

As for the mounts link you said, they look ace, and way cheaper than rox! Is that the ones you have in the pics above (in silver), or just something similar?

Thanks again matey.

Good to know they are not too heavy!

When you get them fitted, would you be able to post an update? Interested to see how well / easy they fit (into existing sturdy mounts etc.) or whether any mods are needed. and if you think they would do the job if you come off.

This guys seems to have the same ones https://youtu.be/MvOrLa2VoEQ, and has fitted them. If you do have fitting issues (as no instructions!) then may be worth giving him a shout... You never know.

Finally, have you guys sorted out rear luggage racks yet and luggage gear? Seems you boys are a few weeks ahead of me in the planning, so would be great to hear what you looked at and picked.

I put the money down on mine today, and have ordered the YSS rear shock (firefox racing) to be fitted for when I pick it up (minkyhead and others on various forums have recommended).

Right, off to do some more googling on replacement handlebars and handguards....

Thanks again....

Roy

No worries: I'll keep you informed as things progress.
Hey @OB1....

Did you have your first service yet? I am looking at just getting the lower guards,... https://inpreda.com/products/honda-crf2 ... r-fairings. Very few reviews on the web, so not much to go on. Be really interested to see how you think they fit. Two main things for me... Do the lower guards mount on to good substrantial part of the bike (I know some mounts bolt onto softer bits, so would take much impact).... Also, do the lower ones look like the would protect the lower fairings ok?

Thanks in advance...

Roy

Hi Roy. Yep first service was completed at the weekend... you'll see another thread about that elsewhere... :?

Mike has fitted his crash bars and skid plate. He had a little issue fitting the upper crash bars but, after contacting the supplier, some new bats are now being sent out as they were a bit skewed and wouldn't fit properly. The supplier evern responded on a Sunday!

If you pop over here, http://www.trailsoftheunexpected.co.uk/socials/, you'll see how mike got on and if you click on the Instagram or Twitter link, there's a bit of text to go along with it.

I'll be fitting mine in a week or so as I don't have the same facilities as Mike...

Keep us informed on how you get on with everything.

Looking good @OB1.

Mike has a "proper setup" for working on bike, fair play to him. I am very close to pulling the trigger on the lower guards only (got that carbon fiber bash plate coming, and I am not convinced with the upper bars, where they attach to near the headlight seems like could cause an issue if heavy impact).

For the lower guards, I am just trying to work out where they attach... Looks like the front section connect to the sub-frame with two big U bolts or something (any chance of bending frame on a bad impact?). As for the back, I am not sure where they attach, is it the rear engine mount? In summary, they look like they would offer some decent protection to lower frame parts, just want to ensure if they take a biggish impact, they wont cause me more trouble than they save! Shame there are no insttuctions to download, be easier to envisage how it all connects up.

Only other contenders I have seen are these https://www.t-rex-racing.com/CRF250L-Ra ... 7-17eg.htm . Looking at the video on that page, those do bolt to engine mounts (which I assume is a good thing?) - but look less robust overall.

I get mine 1st March. I have a bunch of stuff coming for fitment. Once it done, I will pop a photo on, and a list of all mods, with links to where I got stuff.

I managed to get the lower engine guards and sump guard fitted over the weekend.

As far as the lower engine bars were concerned, there were no real problems and they were on within 30 minutes.

The sump guard came with 4 fasteners that are similar to dzus fasteners but not quite the same, along with 6 screws, 6 washers and one nyloc nut (should have been two). Again, fitting is easy and quite straight forward but the two rear screws and nuts are a pain as they're really close to other bits which make it difficult to get fat fingers in.

I did attempt to fit the upper bars but, for some reason, I think the design is flawed and no matter how much I tightened the nut and bolt, the lower fixings were still loose... Because of this, I just didn't install them for the time being.

Of course I'm biased because I make the carbon/kevlar add on--but am I right in thinking that the bashplate has to come off, then the front grill, and then the OE bashplate before you can get in there for a filter change and clean?

You are quite right and it is something that we will be addressing before too long. Even draining the oil would necessitate the removal of the sump guard as the hole is in the wrong place.

Unfortunately, I ordered this before I saw your carbon guard. :|
