Bata alp 200

Post by chipy »

Looking at replacing my ageing serow with a Beta alp 200.
Does anyone on here have one and if so what it like?

No but I've always wanted one.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I have ridden one only, they are very competent off-road. My main concern though was, dare I say it, the completely gutless engine!

The Serrow just has that little bit more oomph that makes all the difference when running a small capacity bike.

So you need a test ride, you might find it perfect regardless.

I had an Alp 4.0 (350cc).

It's a competent bike but components were on the cheap side. Also it had no real character.

Depending on what you want to do with the bike, you'll know if the engine is big enough.

If you're looking for a bike at that end of the market, I'd also look at bikes such as the AJP Ultrapassar, which, last time I looked, was 200cc. I've ridden one of those and would say it was better than the Alp. The reason I didn't buy one was that I needed a bigger engine for the mileage I was doing on the Long Distance Trials.

In summary, Alps are nice, but there are better bikes around.
