Honda Africa Twin: a word of warning

Post by Richard Simpson Mark II »

Just read in another magazine.

The writer had an Africa Twin long-term test bike.

Slid off at little more than walking-pace and scuffed a crashbar.

Price of a new one is £1200...not £120...£1200. And that doesn't include the little light on the top of it.

Buyers seeking a big trail bike to be used as a trail bike may wish to look elsewhere if that's typical of the price of parts.

I wonder how much they want for a piston ring?

That's unusual. Is it not part number 08P71MJPG50 which is £384?

Therein lies the problem with regurgitating "facts" before checking them ;)

Regardless of cost, surely no one is likely to replace a crash bar just because it's scufffed, particularly on an 'adventure bike'? :?

Sounds like yet another case of magazine tester bollocks tbh

You wouldn't want to pay Dave Thorpes Repair bills from his Honda Offroad Centre, here is Mr Thorpe retrieving a Well known East of England TRF Chairman from the scenery having come to grief on a AT.

A complete set of KTM bars for a 950/990 Adv, complete with fitting kit is about £150...so Honda is only over twice as much for half the parts.

It looks like the rider bravely positioned himself between the crashbar and the ground to prevent any expensive damage!

At that price, he didn't.
