Which one?

Post by ktmpedro220 »

Hi all! Just looking for some opinions and advice. Looking at getting either a KTM 1090R or a 1190R. Pros and Cons. Cheers.

Just returned from South Africa and got to do some riding out there with mates. Tested a friends 1190 R back to back with a R1200GS and must admit, that i've come back to the UK and will be selling my Fireblade (again) and getting another GS (again)! LOL

I found the GS to be great off road and on the road for a nice Sunday morning scratch!

I started my fondness of bikes on plastic race reps and then on to trails and enduros, finally on to adv's.

I have no reference between the 1090R and 1190R unfortunately - but did seriously consider a 1090R for myself in the Autumn - I loved riding it and it was a very engaging and exciting machine on the road.

I did however 'settle' on a GSA purely based on money - greater age and mileage made more financial sense - however I still think about the 1090R an awful lot.

I would think both are pretty good machines - I would have liked to try the 1290R as the salesman described it as the most bonkers bike he has ever ridden (this was a road racer in Northern Ireland btw)

You really need to try them for yourself, I've heard the 1090 is now regarded as the better bike but I've no experience myself other than owning a 1050 and that is a great road bike, 19"/17" wheels as standard, still pigs off road though.
