Going for a Beta look...

Post by daveuprite »

The time had finally come. After three years of throwing my 2012 Beta 450RR up trees, through snowdrifts and into bogs, the stickers had all disappeared and the bodywork was lashed together with zip-ties and gaffer. Eventually the airbox/rear mudguard collapsed completely and I had to open up the wallet for some parts. I already had a full set of secondhand but clean and solid 2011 body panels which had good original decals on them. So I stripped the bike down and took the opportunity to clean in places that never usually get cleaned and to touch up the frame etc. New undertray and number plate holder parts eventually arrived, plus a brand new seat cover and some wide pegs - so about 5 hours of cleaning, painting and fitting later here she is ready:

Everything is now solid, fitted the way the factory intended and loctited to buggery. Just awaiting the next encounter with a tree...

Well I already had the 2011 plastics/decals waiting for their day to go on. As to the rest:

Genuine Beta 450RR undertray/airbox unit - 22 euros
Genuine Beta rear number plate holder - 21 euros
24MX seat cover - 29 euros
Chinese footpegs - 24 euros
Lots of new genuine Beta bolts, spacers, fixtures etc - 10 euros
Touch up paint from Ford (same colour code as Beta original) - 5 quid

So quite a cheap transformation really, and now the bike is bolted together properly like new. I'm a happy lapin... :D

Nice Dave, I see you've fitted another number plate, no bra holder though! :)

:D Yeah I do seem to get through quite a few number plates, Steve. This time I've gone for postage stamp small - not much chance of smashing that up hopefully. However the gendarmes will need a microscope to read it...

The bra holder eventually bust (get it? fna fna...).
