Heading back up through France to Calais, hoping to stay in Lourdes tomorrow…. Looking for a miraculous cure for my restless dancing leg 😂
The wee bike should help get you through the traffic.
St Jean pied de Port is down that way, it is the start of the Camino and usually has quite a buzz from excited pilgrims getting ready to set off.

An awesome piece of riding Chris. Lots of us have done the famous Smugglers Trail - on enduro bikes, KTM690s, 990s, GS1250s etc etc - a bunch of us were there just a few weeks back - but how many did an Autumn descent/ascent on a scooter?

I’m sure that the pilgrims who have already walked hundreds of km before arriving in the Pyrénées might argue that point. 😀

Expect some rain. Your bike always looks amazingly clean in the photos but it’s likely to get a bit of a wash on the way north. Bonne route.

Basically just cheap hotel’ing it. Last time I took full camping gear and worked out it’s easier and almost as cheap to find a proper roof over your head, and you can take so much less 👍
Yes, camping stuff is a lot of things to bring. Tent, sleeping bag, mattress....
And accommodations out of tourist season is not that expensive.
I have always used a tent. But I will try without it next time.
=> Rider smaller (or less big at least)
I will be a strange feeling to do not have a "home" with me.

Fantastic trip you are doing.

Have a good time in Lourdes, Chris. Watch out for thousands of awful shops selling plastic weeping madonnas and such like. It really is tacky as hell, whether you're a believer or not. And be careful that someone doesn't try to 'cure' you of that hairy affliction on your face. If that gets cut off, all your strength to muscle that Innova around will disappear instantly.

I'm sure you've done your research, but when you ride back up the West coast, you might want to check out the sand-dunes near Arcachon - which are the largest in Europe i think. And of course La Rochelle / Isle De Ré etc are all great places for fresh fish and pretty harbours.

Plus one for those recommendations, the coast road around Arcachon is a nice ride too or was about 5 years ago.

A few decades ago it was "tacky as HELL ".. lol
Not the mini HEAVEN I expected..
Criminals and gangs on the sides of heaving crowds, waiting to pick pocket, or knife a tourist, or his bag
Nearly as bad as Ponty market in the old days, but with cheaper plastic
