Spending my spare time at the moment getting my XR125L back to a roadworthy manner.
I’ve let stuff slip a bit, relegating it to my winter bike when in fact it’s an amazing all-round 125.

It’s done a fair few off road routes and taken me fully-loaded on 2 x 1000 mile French adventures. It’ll pootle along nicely at 45mph with enough road presence to use the motorway of you need to. The 13 litre tank - at 100mpg+ -is good for about 300 miles between fill ups. Seat is a bit firm but nothing an airhawk wouldn’t solve.

I keep looking at 125s and I think the XR is the best of the bunch for my needs. All I need is to find one when I have some cash. That said the new Hunter Cub looks awesome.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I spent ages researching which 125 to get and eventually chose the XR125L. It’s basically got the tried and trusted CG125 engine in a slight off road frame.
It’s easily adaptable as well, road tyres or off road (choices are limited), luggage can be fitted too. I adapted some givi side pannier frames size could have secure luggage when travelling.
Parts are also cheap which is good.
Rear suspension can be pretty soft but can be upgraded

Your XR125L looks the business Godspeed, cheap and cheerful to run and own I'm sure.

I love those the look of the Honda XL125V Varadero's, they kick out 14bhp with a 17litre fuel tank. Nice...!

I looked at those but the weight threw me off scent. I think Wet they are 150kg + and for me the small bike appeal is something lightweight that you can sling around yourself 👍
