Re: Suzuki Katana
It's growing on me. Not the cutting edge innovation of the original, of course, and too many lines have been blunted, but I bet it will make a really good road bike. Kawasaki has made a slightly better job of the revisited Z900.

Re: Suzuki Katana
I read that they've given it the GSX-R 1000 engine from '05...that is an absolute cracker of an engine

Re: Suzuki Katana
Yes, that's reason enough to buy it regardless. Some of the best street-fighters in recent years have been based on a K5. I rode one for days in Italy/France/Spain back in 2006 and absolutely loved that bike. Even in sports bike form it made a really good tourer.Scott_rider wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 12:37 pm I read that they've given it the GSX-R 1000 engine from '05...that is an absolute cracker of an engine

Re: Suzuki Katana
I have one of the originals and don't like it. Raised bars on a Kat? Fairing / tank is ok.

Re: Suzuki Katana
I have a 1000sxz ok it's in boxes in the loft but still got it. Engine is full race 1168 done by wayand Strydom back in the 80's. Had it boxed and flown to uk. Only big issue is I swooped my wire wheels and slide carbs back in the day so I need to find some again.

Re: Suzuki Katana
Modern motorcycle stylists seem to have forgotten how to 'do' the back of a bike. We have the bodywork finishing over the highest point of the rear wheel and then either a numberplate on a stick poking out from under the seat, or a weird flappy thing stuck to the swinging arm.
I liked the original Katana...it was the first Japanese 4 to break away from the UJM look...styled by a German who had been kept on a retainer by BMW for years and only allowed to produce 'concept' bikes.

Quite agree...the bars look like they've come off a commuter bike, and the seat from a 125.
