So its been a week.

I've almost got used to the weight of the bike. The old one got pushed back into the garage with almost one hand by comparison. Took the terrain out for a ride through the back roads to Bewdley in Worcestershire (about 40 miles round trip) and while I wasn't gunning the engine (and staying below 45), the ride was fine (the heat almost did for me though!).

It's still taking some getting used to the gear ratios, and In guess I'll have to learn again after the 500km service when I should be able to open the throttle up and get a good feeling for the whole range - overall it feels like everything needs another 1000- 2000 rpm over the old bike (which makes sense due to the weight). I may just try and sell the old one for spares now, as its pretty clear I'm not going to get back on it.

I'm looking at additional security for it - I've got an old oxford 14mm disc lock (with no batteries) but feel like a chain and lock really should be the base for when I'm out and about, as well as a new alarmed disc lock. (If anyone has any recommendations I'll happily have a look - there seem to be a massive range out there...)

I'm still waiting to get the old top box on it - My brother has the tools in the family, but it seems a really simple job - the terrain plate has a guider mat for drilling the holes, and the two bolts furthest away from the number plate are actually welded onto the plate so you cant lose them due to fiddly angles - which seems like a decent idea.

Just waiting for a call from the dealer as the fuel indicator part in the tank doesn't seem to be working, and when it goes back in I'm going to ask them about a squeak I'm getting on the rear brake from time to time. will update further as I go.....

Looks a fantastic bike. I loved my Sinnis Apache when I had it. Much more reliable than my BMW has been 😂

Almost a month now.....

trying to get miles on to get the service in before I'm off the bike for a week or so, but not sure I will get there. So far, nothing to really report - still loving the new feel of the bike, and can't wait to be given the go ahead on letting the revs get past 6.5k :-)

Going to have to look at tightening the chain before long - this quite surprised me, but the chain seems loose after only 200 miles....

Kept clean and fresh, garaging overnight. will be planning to do a run out for a day after the august bank holiday to get a real feel for sitting I the saddle for a good 4-5 hours, maybe into south wales down the A38 and in.

Sounds good, getting miles on a new bike for its first service is a bit frustrating but it makes it all the sweeter when you can finally give it the beans :)

It looks like a comfy bike with the seat and the fairing so a long day on the back roads wouldn't be to painful. When my butt starts to ache I always get up on the pegs for a minute, it does wonders.

Has the chain changed or have you just noticed the slack? You would be surprised how loose chains need to be when the bike is parked.

noticed the slack on park. I'm never very good on bike maintenance and always get worried on the chain.

May just call the garage and ask if they can spare 30 seconds to confirm for me.

so, having fuelled up a little, I'm kind of astounded at what the fuel consumption is:

from a full tank on pick up, I refuelled at 101 miles, and it took 4.79 litres. Have again fuelled up today at a total of 268 miles, and the intake was 6.75 litres.

So 268 miles on 11.5 litres on a tight engine? If my maths is right, I'm getting about 180 to the gallon?

I think I must have a tardis for a tank :-)

Think your maths is out, UK gallon is 4.54 litres so 268 miles on 2.53 gallons which makes it 105.93mpg on the last fill up, the first one is about 95 I think. roughly of course

Still bloody good though, I only get more than 40 on my Dr and I've been very well behaved (or out with the Mrs on her 125) if I get more than 55mpg out of it.

Glad your enjoying it they looks like nice bikes, and I've got a soft spot for Chinese bikes to the point I'm stealing my Mrs's old sinnis trackstar 125 to use to potter about on :D

Thanks - I thought it was far too good. But roughly 100 mpg? yeah, I'll take that on a tight engine.

Due to a recent op, I haven't been out for a while, so still a ways off first service, but hoping to be out and about soon :-)

That’s a smart looking bike. Now’s the time to get a good coat of ACF50 on her so she keeps looking slick through the coming winter and beyond.
