1090R is 125 bhpmacvisual wrote:I may be wrong but I believe the 1090R has a BHP of around 160 which is really more than anyone needs, I ride a bike with about 100BHP and really enjoy that fine.........it's plenty all day long, it's how you use the power.Chunky27 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 6:25 pm Hello I'm about to buy a 1090 adventure r and was just wondering if these bikes have plenty power or do you think they are slightly under powered? I've just sold my tiger xcx as it was just so boring to ride I'm really after another bike that will tick the boxes and be just as good on road as it is off road . What is the top speed of these 1090s?
Strange you ask about top speed as I'm sure you'll rarely use that nowadays, no need.
I've experienced good riders on 100BHP machines out riding guys on 150BHP sports bikes in the past, sometimes less is more.....!

Very true of course, but missing the point somewhat.
In Fast competitive riding, skill is the most important thing without doubt.
But, we're not always pitting our wits against fellow riders, you only need to be a competent rider to get a kick out of the surge of acceleration or torque from a a powerful engine......you're not always in a race situation, you can find loads of situations to get a buzz from big horse power in a straight line!
Effortless acceleration in any gear is a bit addictive.

The 1190 is 150 bhp the 1290 is 160bhp but when you select offload mode the power on both is restricted to 100 bhp, but the 160 bhp is a real hoot on the road.
