think i'll be sticking with me wr450 for the trails and sticking with the crf250x for the daft stuff. 2 fully sorted bikes for less than half the price of one of these.

I know £6.5k is still a big bit of wedge but a new WR450 at that price is almost a bargain 8-) .

Re: Adv Spec Honda 450L

I see Dave Lomax from Adv Spec is out in Morocco right now exploring on a lightly loaded 450L with an IMS tank.
And he rode it all the way down too.
A couple of vids on their FB: https://www.facebook.com/pg/adventurespec/videos.
Will be interesting to see what he makes of it.

I have spotted one on ebay.

nearly £9500 and you still have registration fees and then have to try and get hold of a rack and larger fuel tank to make it a useable long distance travel tool.

With out beating a drum I don’t get what this offers for that money. If you want a 450 enduro to green lane on they are cheaper. If you want a half decent adventure bike that you can do mileage on they are cheaper.

My 701 with fairing, footpegs and aux tank giving a range of 230-240 road miles before reserve of 3 litres cost the same as this stock bike! I don’t get what it has to lure people?

It's a HONDA, so it will be purchased in expectation of perfection, then generate many forum threads about the way the spokes have tarnished, or something equally inconsequential.

got to admit, I don't get it

the only thing I can think is that honda are appealing to the GS type men who got more money than sense
and think that high cost is super-elite
but at the same time give a lower weight
to make it seem technically sensible for trails
and in so doing have lowered the oil capacity and innards
modelled on the `R`
but taking the need for more servicing with it

(incoming gs flakkkk ..

I think the £9500 is OTR

I wouldn't want a big tank and rack as I'd just use it for local trail riding
