Re: Honda 450L
Other than the power output , which hopefully is wrong, it will be great, just because of the gearing for me, ridden the crf 450rx and its fantastic,
if the L is similar & able to cruise at road speeds then great,, as for price its built in Japan, so expect a far better build than a 250L, its no 3rd world commuter.

Read that too... WTF don't they put an oil tank on the damned thing and carry enough oil to extend changes??pinball1008 wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 9:25 pm Initially it looks good, but it's still oil and filter every 600 miles or so and less than a 2 gallon tank. Damn!
From ADV Pulse interview with Honda US bod:
ADVP: Dirt bike and street bike maintenance intervals are vastly different. How does this bike fit on that scale?
CM: “It will be a little more like a street bike actually. One thing we will be recommending on this bike is a more frequent oil change than the X and part of that is because, if someone rides it on the pavement all the time or down the freeway wide open for hours, they would need to check their oil. I think there is 1.8 quarts of oil so if you were to use some oil or it got too hot the maintenance intervals are a little sooner for sure.
Yep.... OIl cooler and some extra capacity needed.

I am sure the power output is a typo ?

I have read this and it looks good but its a US 2 gallon tank with no kick start
Think I will keep my WR 450F

Re: Honda 450L
It's all about 'selling us a dream' of doing macho stuff in an easy/efficient middle management style at an affordable monthly cost in a 2 week time frame.
Reality is you can't have the power/lightness/suspension/handling/traction of a modern day enduro bike without the repairs and maintenance that goes with it. Add in the factors of comfort/large tank/luggage/wind protection plus miles of roadwork etc etc and you are putting more strain on a competition based machine.

Thank you for the e-mail.
Yes, the figure is correct.
This is because the engine for this bike is the CRF450R moto-crosser engine re-tuned for a lot of low end torque. This is essentially aimed to be beneficial for the ‘hobby-ist’ green lane rider. It also has big benefit compared to similar machines in that the first major services isn’t due until 32,000km. So ultimately, it works as a genuine dual-purpose machine – excelled for an urban commute, loads of fun on trails and hassle-free ownership!
Hope this helps,
Olivia

Re: Honda 450L
25 bhp on a 450 bike weighing 120kg dry will be fine
Nobody has ridden one yet
I bet it will be lovely and torquey
Honda may offer a HRC hop up kit too (closed circuit of course)
Honda have made some stunning bikes and I am sure this will be another
Forget the spec sheet - just see how the bloody thing rides
I shall be selling the XR 400 for one
