Ok, so I can’t afford a stable. Need something I can have a laugh with on back roads, occasionally do a bit of green laning (nothing extreme, don’t have the skills), commute with and take me and Mrs with luggage on our hols.
Have settled on an F650gs but before I part with my limited budget, tell me what goes wrong with em and why you wouldn’t buy one...
Or what to watch out for if I do....
Thanks
Put me off buying an F650gs
Re: Put me off buying an F650gs
well they are a good bike for your needs, but might struggle two up touring . if your budget is up to 2.5 you would be better off with an older 1100/ 1150 gs some bikes are well loved and now over looked, have a look on ukgser bikes for sale !
Re: Put me off buying an F650gs
Had a single F650GS a few years ago. It was ok, but boring and uninspiring.
One thing though when I went on Salisbury plain with a few of of here the little seemed to cope ok but suspension wasn't great.
When I washed all the mud off it I found a little pile of nuts and bolts on the lawn, the poor bike had literally shaken itself to bits..I got rid of shortly after couldn't get all the bolts back in couldn't find where they came from.
it might of just been my bike but I wouldn't get another one, but I would recommend one as a potential option for someone to get as a first step into the Adventure Bike life.

Have looked at them but worry they are a bit on the heavy side.
I have to take my bike up an unmade road, and cobbles, all on a hill, just to put it away.
Mind you, managed it on a VFR for yes so.....hmmm
