Good fun in 3rd gear though :D

1st and 2nd are redundant.... due to wheelspin

In 4th gear............... the horizon comes towards you at an alarming rate - wowee

Too scared to use 5th and 6th...........yet

Impressive

Did I mention wheelies too? ...........open the throttle on those hard packed lanes and she's up in the air in #3rd and #4th gear

Wonder how much HP they chuck out ?
Lovely looking bike. What a hoot. I remember 'leaning at the bar' claims of 62bhp when they came out - but pretty sure that would be crank bhp and definitely sounds like pub talk. Wouldn't be surprised if you got a real world mid-high 40s at the rear wheel. Apparently an Akra and some dyno/jetting work releases a couple more pent up ponies and flattens out the curve. Anyway, who cares? If it's stretching your arms and scaring you ocassionally then it's doing what it says on the tin.

Yes my 450 had a bit of go so I'd imagine the newer 530 would be more of the same.

Steve
Yep, I thought that too

Yep, it's a bit loony - don't I need any more ponies for the dirt

Just need to re-learn how to ride offroad again now - now someone has thrown in a curved ball

When you own an EXC530 I think the only advice is to charge at everything full speed and float over the whole lot.

(Although there is a large memorial somewhere to the people who actually followed that advice...)

I know what you mean Dave

It's a fecking monster, had it out properly at the weekend on the NY Moors - so some big wide tracks and it certainly flies and floats

Power and stomp are immense, maybe too much

I had to wait at a junction for a car and thus had to catch the others up on a flat, straight moorland road - so while trundling along at 30-40mph in 4th, I thought I will open it up and so just whacked open the throttle hard :o

Feck me the bike took off and the front wheel just came straight up, on the power and wheelied forever and was still lofting the wheel as I changed up to 5th.................I backed off the power at 75mph and she was flying

Just changed the oils and filter this afternoon

What a chuffing palaver

1 oil filter
2 screens
2 filler plugs and 1 drain plug

Took twice as long as the XR400, which literally takes 10 mins (once the bash plate is off)

With KTM it's........... drain the engine oil and clean the screen, pre fill the oil filter, lay bike on side, half fill the filter cavity, tighten up all the filter cover/screen drain plug, measure & fill with 350ml, fire up the bike for 29 secs, then add the remaining 250ml oil and run the bike
Then drain the gearbox side, via a drain plug, then take out the screen plug, measure out 900 ml and try to get it into the filler plug which is under the carb and luckily i had an angled funnel

I can't see me doing this every 15 hours, it's be every 600 miles

You also don't need to pre-fill the oil filter, so do the whole thing with bike upright. It should really take no longer than 10 mins and the screens dont need doing every time either - the engine will have already sorted itself out in terms of swarf.
