Morning all,
I have a bike that is scrap. Rusty, dismantled and generally unsellable. What is the best thing to do with it?
Cheers
Bren

What is it? The bits might be of use to someone on here.
Failing that try this: https://www.gov.uk/scrapped-and-written-off-vehicles

Your local council recycle centre will take scrap metal. If it's registered don't forget to notify DVLA that its scrapped.
Does it have an interesting registration number? If it transferable you can sell it.

The cynic in me says put it on ebay as a 'cool cafe-racer urban scrambler hipster only requiring assembly'.
Alternatively, take it to the dump (assuming all fluids, battery etc are removed) and chuck in the metals bin. Or to a scrap metal dealer/vehicle dismantler. You might get a few quid for it.
Perhaps a local school/college might have a use for it?
Whatever you do, don't forget to fill in and return the 'scrap' part of the V5C to DVLA

What is scrap today is a rare collection piece tomorrow !!
There are a few bikes I wished I hadn't scrapped in the 60's and 70's
Almost everything has a value to someone.
Find a home for it, could make a nice winter renovation project for someone.

What Willy Spray states ... or just throw it out onto the street? Is that not what people do these days ? .. avoid personal responsibility and make it some one else’s problem and or blame them ? Lol

Is it your DR125 Brenhden, if so are you sure it’s scrap. There are a few interchangeable parts with DR350 etc.
You could remove, clean and sell on eBay.

Re: What should I do with a scrap bike?
It is Bob, I've already taken most of them off and put them on the 350 and the 650. I guess I can take it even more to pieces and see if anyone wants them but I'm not sure that the time spent will be worth the money made.
For reference it's my first bike, a DR125 from 2000. It was always a wreck, I don't know how many 17yo lads owned it before me but I'm guessing more than 10 and they put 25k miles on her. Once I got a proper licence I SORNED it and it sat for two years, then I took it apart with the intention of turning it into an urban scrambler or something and then bought two more bikes which it became a donor to. Its now been sat for five years and every part is even more corroded than it was 5 years ago.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I don't suppose the wheels are in anything approacing usable condition? I've got a few loose spokes on mine that are sufficiently rusty that they can't be adjusted and would rather buy them from someone on here than a mystery ebay seller.
