I know, but the 850 is a touring off road type bike, so compairing it to an enduro bike is a bit pointless.

I`m sure a KTM 250exc would be better than that 790 thing offroad, but neither would do what the BMW is designed to do.

Just my opinion mind.

I'm sure a lot of adventure bikes never see the dirt but are promoted as being more than capable. For example, how many Multistradas are ridden like this?....I like the bit at 1 min 10 secs +... 8-)

To be fair most of that track could be ridden on a fireblade :)

It may be pretty but look at the angle of the shock. It'll be useful offroad only to ride the 10 yards from tarmac to grass for a camping trip. Just like the 690 enduro, it's a bastardisation of a road bike.

I like the look of the 850GS, it's different and bold.

I’m not so sure, maybe slowly but not at speed.I’ve ridden a Fazer thou round the Bardenas in Spain and 20 mph was about as fast as was possible on a sports type bike with road rubber and road suspension. It wasn’t an experience I’d want to repeat... :)

Ive done 000s of miles on dirt on a 690 whilst its on an EXC its not far behind can't think of a similar bike that would be as good regardless of its parentage, agree with you on looks KTMs are not usually bought for their Aesthetics.

I like the look of it as well.
I'm a big GS800 fan. The 850 should be even better.
You need to ride within their limitations and if you take your time they'll get you through most situations.
I notice on the picture above on scott_rider's post it's shod with Karoo3's....my favourite duel purpose tyre.
Any excuse for me to post some pictures of mine on my USA trip :D........
Down in Texas, by the Mexican border.
