Been out all day, I have done 186 miles not riding very efficiently and trail riding and still nooo fuel light.

Been out all day, I have done 186 miles not riding very efficiently and trail riding and still nooo fuel light.
I've put bigger tanks on enduro bikes, but none had fuel gauges or low fuel warning lights.
Will the Husky's fuel light still operate correctly with a larger tank?

Yes because the gauge is in the main tank and the auxiliary tank takes the place of the airbox and is linked in at the fuel pump resulting in the fuel being depleted equally on bothe the main and the auxiliary.

Steve, You put a level of doubt in my mind so at 216 miles i had to refill..

So mildly impressed i did 15.6 litres on 216 miles.

With a 13.9 and 5.9ltr tank i have a total capacity of 19.8ltrs

on that consumption im getting 13.85 miles/ltr therefore I had a remaining 58.17 Miles in the tank.... Total range of trail/roads 274 Miles

Think i've got a cracking adventure machine here! :lol:

Don't you love how us Brits mix it up with imperial and metric!!

Looks like a great conversion - keeping the weight low too. Can't think of a serious off-road oriented bike that I would rather take on a long distance trip right now. And that increased range makes African distance trips realistic. Great work, Mr Cone!

It's always a good idea to strap a 5Lt Jerrycan to your bike and do a test of how much range you've actually got, after your low fuel warning light comes on.....or even if your low fuel warning light actually works!
My CCM450 landed me in the shit by running out of fuel on the M6......just as I was thinking, "That low fuel warning light should be coming on about now"
It was supposedly fixed under warranty, but I've not run the tank that low yet to test it.......I'll take my own advise and take a jerrycan of fuel out with me on its next ride.

A few years ago me and my wife set off to Portsmouth, she on her F650GS (single) and me on a KTM640SM with 18 ltr tank, I'd done a rough calc and figured I'd need to fill up around 140 miles which would leave me with something like 40 miles in reserve as I'd been getting in the region of 45+ mpg.
However when we were getting close to that we started to hit all the motorway splits, so each time I'd see a sign for a services we'd turn off before we reached it, I'd switched to reserve going through a particularly busy section not wanting to splutter and slow down in the middle of it all but when I turned it back to normal it carried on running. we ended up doing 190 miles before filling up and I found out it'd been doing over 60mpg on a steady motorway run. Just shows the difference between a spirited local ride and a steady motorway ride.

I've been tempted by the 701 for a while, but I've also been tempted by a few other bikes too. I've spent most of my adult life on small to medium trail/enduro bikes and while they're not really any good for a long Euro road trip I'm steadily getting sick of riding tarmac on big road based bikes, both my 1050 and the 950 before are nice bikes but there's just something about riding them that leaves me ... disappointed? Not quite the right word but it's all I can think of at the moment.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take one for a ride.
