Re: Husqvarna 701
We were just outside Siena a couple of years ago (in a rental car) and followed a guy in shorts, vest and trainers on a Vespa rear wheel sliding the odd corner and the rest hanging off the seat with his knee down as far as it would go.
Scary but impressive at the same time.

On top of that I commutes on it and the screen is awesome. I found my self accidentally doing 85 and didn’t realise until I looked at the speedo.
I have 6 litre tank to fit but will wait until after the first service to do so
Re: Husqvarna 701
I have narrowed this bike down to one of a few potential new bikes I am
thinking of
when the bank manager allows...
The mods you have done look great as well. Superb looking bike.
How do you find it weight wise compared to what you have ridden before?

Re: Husqvarna 701
So I had a large adventure bike before (some would say mid size f800gs) and off road this nails it hands down and feels like a feather weight until you twist the throttle. Sometimes due to my skill set it’s a bit of a beast to handle and wants me to go faster than I want to, but slowly I can feel my off road skill improving massively and the bike is far more capable that I will ever be, I look forward to testing it.
On the adventure side, I have loaded it up with all my camping gear, pannier and it holds the same gear as my 800 did and am looking forward to taking it to the ABR meet in July. The seat is surprising comfy (hard feeling) but I haven’t spent 6-7hours on it yet.
In its factory setup it truds along the motorways fairly aptly, nothing special but feels perfectly capable of munching the miles if you don’t want to do 80mph everywhere.
On the road it’s really nimble and pokey, but with no rev counter it’s easy to be in the wrong gear leading to slow drive out of corners. But as I’m familiarising myself with the bike and getting to know it this issue is slowly fading away. On the country roads be it A B or C the smiles per mile are constant, it is so fun and has plenty of useable power, twist the throttle and the front calmly lifts its self of the floor
Test riding one will be difficult, I found very few dealers had one to try, only fowlers had a demo of the SM not the endure, I test rode a CRF250 but liked the feel but it had too little power so made the BRAVE assumption that this would be fine.
The one big draw back to the bike is its height. I’m a short arse at 178cm. I think its standard seat height is 905mm, I reduced it by 40mm with a rallyraid link and it is still just taller than my old one. Also to note it is taller than the 690 as we compared them at the Taffy. So if you’re not a monster seriously think of dropping the seat height.
Go and ride one – you’ll love it.
