Ducati & BMW
I was looking at a Multistrada in a dealers a few days ago and admiring how nice the Italian machine looked. Everything on it looked quality and stylish and of all the adventure bikes it’s the one that looks the best.
Yesterday whilst out and about I was passed on the motorway in freezing conditions by a GS1200 and saw one earlier in the week being ridden through the snow we have been experiencing. I could not help thinking that in those conditions and at this time of year the GS is the bike I would rather be on. They just look like they will take on anything and shrug in its face whereas I still think of Ducati as beautiful Italian exotica to be wrapped up in a warm garage till spring arrives. Stupid I know but I just see the big BM as a tank !!!
Nothing to do with price as both mega expensive or build quality as both have issues, it’s just an image I have I suppose.

Re: Ducati & BMW
Reliability issues aside, surely it's the ride that counts. Give them both a blast.
Re: Ducati & BMW
Just cover any bike in WD40 on a regular basis and ride it throughout the year. Main difference between Ducati and any other bike is servicing costs - Ducati = ouch big time.
If you really want a year round bike buy a BMW 1100/1150 - ignore all the E&C taunts, when you’ve got 200K miles on the clock they all go silent

Re: Ducati & BMW
Ducati Multistrada Enduro would be my choice.
