Hello all,
I am after a cheap trials bike £1000=£1500 . It is an itch that needs scratching. I have always wanted one to properly learn how to control and ride a bike at the age of 56! Does anyone have any suggestions please. I have thought Beta Rev 3 250,Gas Gas 250 TXT or Sherco 250 or Scorpa 250(Yamaha engine). I am a big old unit so 125,s probably out and anything over 250 is probably overkill and the power would be a hindrance more than a help when learning. I would be grateful to hear from anyone else who owns a trials bike out there that can give me a few tips. I do not intend to ride competitions, Thanks in advance.

Join your local club mate. They will be the friendliest sorts and point you to a bike no doubt. Mine runs the youth and wobblers class which does what it says on the tin and no pressure what so ever.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Join local club is good advice. Trials community are the most friendly of places.
Buy a bike that's being used at trials, as usually there better maintained than field bikes.
Buy as new as you can get, or buy an old twinshock.
Have fun , theres plenty of all ages at trials.

I've been involved in pre65 trials for a long while I always advise folk to observe at a few trials to get a feel for it if I was to ride trials again I'd get a TY250 & ride the twinshock class.
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***

The only thing I'd add to what's been said is don't rule out a 125, they will get up and over anything you'll ride in a trial, but it's a bravado thing that few men will ride a 125.
