I often think a good article for the mag would be a shoot out of small second hand trail bikes:
CRF250L
DR350/400
KLX250
WRR/TTR 250
Etc........

People could turn up at a good green lane destination with their bikes and have a day out swapping as they go and giving feedback.
There you go editor ;)
Sounds like one of our ride outs with that selection of bikes!!
Could be an interesting idea.

I know this thread is about crf X Klx but as the ttr has been mentioned I for one would say it's a great bike , it might be a bit old fashioned but it's got 6 speed , kick and electric start , not to heavy to pick up , amazing traction it pulls like a tractor and will get just about anywhere , good fuel economy , loads of spares readily available from totally ttr , what's not to like :D :D

I thought the TTR was 5 speed?--the latest "serrow" I think has got the TTR engine as a 250--.

I have a KL 250 super sherpa--6 speed and air cooled (twin OHC and normal sized wheels--but low and light--and still made for the US and Russia)
I also have a WR250R--the trail version--a completely different bike to the WR250F enduro including engine (not sold in the UK for some time now--and just stopped in the US, but continuing in places like Oz). The KL is best for rock hopping, the WR better for faster, longer distance stuff.

It's definitely 6 speed ;)

Agreed - TTR is a great bike. Price wise though it looks to be going the same route as the Serrow and DR350 - one was for sale on totally TTR recently for 3.5K, not mint by any means.

You can pick up a low mileage 5 to 7 year old CRF or KLX for 2.5-2.8K.

The HISS would be the perfect event for a small trial bike shoot out - then a big bike shoot out at the Aragon HISS :D I guess the mag gets more revenue by testing out new bikes but surely most people but second hand ?

Bob and I used ours in normandy last week end, neither missed a beat, and in fact I was trying to keep up with the likes of beta450,husky 300, ktm 300, so was on it, and to be fair was not that far behind. In my honest opinion it's only the 20 year old suspension that limits it, brill little bike.

Not sure if they are still making the TTR?
