I completely understand that we won't be getting the t7 as a production bike but something similar which can cope with trail riding and good on the road will be fine by me.

As long as it has 21/18 combo some decent travel and ground clearance then I'll be happy with that.

The mt07 engine is sweet and modified for low down torque will be a massive benefit

A true light weight, fun adventure bike is out there.
Don't wait around for the bean-counters who call the shots at the big corporations to bring one out....you'll be waiting a long time.

The Yamaha website says
the T7 is a vision of the ideal adventure machine, and is playing a major role in the development of Yamaha’s next generation adventure models.
A new chapter from the book of legends will be on the street – and on the dirt – from 2018

I do like these bikes and I heard rumours that they could be using the same 650 engine out of the swm in there new ones and ditching the 450 bmw engine but iam unsure if it's true or not .i've seen one of there new bikes advertised but not seen anything of a the gp650 that was rumoured about and I would be surprised if they used it as the ajp pr7 as it in the swm enduro r and the swm dual adventure bike .. So was a bit sceptical and didn't no whether to believe it or not but it is a nice bike visually I can't say with the rideabillity as Ive never rode one
