Spoken to several other garages and for the shims to be checked ect is between £120 and £150

The price of the actual shims isn't where the cost is (in my personal experience from doing them on my Triumph and others, Triumph ones are well priced, if not cheaper, compared to most others), it's the price of genuine dealership labour, as with any OEM dealer. I've found that quite a few garages think that Triumphs are some totally foreign entity, as if you've asked them to do Ducati belts or something.

Clive Wood is one of the best Triumph techs I know. He's based in/near Boston, Lincs.

Wait until the middle of winter, I'm sure they'll happy shave off a few hundred quid when they are dead quiet
