Re: UK CRF500L #2 Build Thread
Minkyhead, panic ye not.... I'll have to update my personnel details as I currently reside in Gateshead, the Great Northeast. Obviously My fabrication guy is kept fairly busy by myself of late but he is always interested in this type of work. I would rate his standard of work as exceptional. Some of his creations that I have physically seen myself are off the scale, one of these types that never advertises his talents people just come to him by word of mouth.
For example.....-

tbo mike fitting or working on a engine is a different ball game than making a frame and getting aeverything in line ..thats a job for a proffesional for sure well beyond my cave man skills
ditto fabricating exhausts...the rest of it may be fiddly or time consuming but i could manage that ..i/e the easy bits
hope scuttys looking in im hoping to meet up with him for a braaap ...
im not sure as the 300 does most thing pretty well ...my main concern with a crf 500 is the high speed stability to be honest ..the engine weight an position may make it more stable i dont know ..but tha is probably the one thing i am concerned about as if i get the 300 up to 80 its not the most stable of things seems much more happy at 70 low 70s and that in truth is about right for the engine too ..ive had it at a tru 90mph but its downright scary with the luggage and screen fitted
:S ...my tyres deffo dont help but i cant see me using anything less aggressive witha bigger motor ??
the gearing is also a concern as the tiny 1st gear on the 300 is mega flexable ..these are things that its hard to know about ..just questions i have in my own mind ..more powerful doesnt always mean more managable ..
but the project sounds great in principal ....
,,,so thats a question for scutty i guess ..thanks
hey flip flop perhaps you could pm your number for a chat (thumbs)

Just what I am after and any chance of one for WIBOs trip to Morocco in October as still trying to decide what bike to buy to go on.
Will look further into this as could be a good project to build in my new shed.

Re: UK CRF500L #2 Build Thread
Looking forward to further updates and will be interested to see what frame changes are required which would not prove too difficult as I know someone local to myself who does this type of work and his work is fantastic but my name has now disappeared off WIBOs list of goats for Octobers trip so I'm not in any rush for one now.
Perhaps someone is trying to tell me something!
