Well, I rode the 650 Interceptor this am...and for the kind of bike it is at the money it is, it's really, really good.

When I'm too old and feeble to ride my 950, I'll get one. Well, maybe the Continental GT, as the footrests are better.

:D

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.

You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.

And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....

....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.

Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;

Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

Greetings,

Guess that the only way to know is to look for the "direction of rotation arrow" but from the photo it looks ok.

No because it is a front tyre , tread optimised for braking , rear would be opposite .

Just to throw this into the mix :?

For the same price a Kawasaki verseys 300x can be bought. I’d be interested to try them back to back as an overland bike. The Verseys is getting good reviews in the US and with a 19” front wheel reports are that off road performance is better than the sum of its parts - certainly when compared to the 300 BMW.

Himalayan looks a great bike.

I test rode the VX300 a few months ago. Only on the road but i was really impressed with it, never expected a 300 to shift the way it did. Its light too at only 172kg, but has a big bike feel. Change the rock hard seat and it would be all day comfortable, riding position and the ergos was spot on for me.
Only things that stopped me buying one, was i dont want spoked wheels or tubes, and its 7.5K miles valve check. Plus i reckon the Ninja 400 engine is not far off being put in this bike.
If you want spoke wheels to ride offroad and dont mind the short valve check intervals, i reckon its a cracking bike.

I rode the Versys 300 against the others and really liked it as well. Tonnes of fun and a really gutsy top end. It makes the Himalayan feel pedestrian by comparison. It is a bit firm in the suspension, and certainly in the seat, and it doesn't have the functionality of the Himalayan or the right engine for off-roading, but if you wanted something peppy for the road then I'd give one a go. Good prices on them as well at the minute.

Either you guys pay a lot more for the Himalayan or the Versys is very cheap there but here in NZ the Versys is 28% more expensive than the Himalayan. There is really nothing to compete against the Himalayan here in the price bracket. Even the Chinese Benelli is up there in the same price bracket as the Versys 300X.

Does it do the job of both, or is the riding you do changing?
