Re: XS1100 Midnight Special
Sorry, being an old fart.
My recollection was, they were heavy, handled like a puppy on a string, slow compared to what was out there.
RD 350lc
GS1000
CB900
I owned the originals, most from new, The CB900 was the ultimate back then.
Please remember this is my opinion.
But now in my 50s it looks the dogs.

I always tried to make my previous XS11's handle well and brake well by putting on a FJ1200 set of forks with 4 pot brake calipers and a 17" front wheel, but with this one i'm leaving the front end as is for now.
They will still fly along at a fair old pace though for a 95hp engine. The shaft drive unit adds the weight, my XJR1200 is positively light compared.

Re: XS1100 Midnight Special
If anyone is still interested in the old XS this is what I've done to it this week. Rough in the flesh. XJR1200 forks and wheel. 17" wheel instead of 19" and 43mm forks instead of the spindly 37mm.

Well well. A Standard. Tank has been painted, drop bars. Nice one. Is it still on the road? Where was that picture taken?
