Just got back from another brilliant 1-1 with Moly at SweetLamb. He set up my suspension for me too and the bike feels much tighter and more stable, especially flying up a steep and rocky track, where the back end was bouncing around like crazy to start with.

I need a new chain and sprocket set tho, she's done just over 5k miles now. Quadzilla say they can't get the OEM rear sprocket anymore, the front sprocket is cheap enough but the chain is £50. Maybe something better is available at or around that price?

Netsonic you mentioned you'd found JT versions on ebay I think? Are they still available and have you got a link?

Also fitted new back brake pads from EBC whilst at SweetLamb but they were so thick we had to drain some of the brake fluid and couldn't get the clip back on - has anyone else found that?

Overall the bike is still going strong despite being used a bit harder off road now. I have had a couple of cut outs since doing the filler cap mod but it seems to happen much less. One happened when the tank was almost full, odd. Also I've found when practising slow speed figure of 8s for an hour or so she doesn't like starting again and I have to wait a bit :)

Aha. After a bit more hunting through this thread I found an old post of Mr. Netsonic's (of course!) with details on JT replacements for sprockets:

Front Sprocket:
https://chainsandsprockets.co.uk/produc ... t-15-teeth

Quadzilla have quoted me only £4 for a new drive sprocket.

Rear Sprocket:
http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTR897/
Can get them here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-SPROCKE ... SwBqZb7FYN

Quadzilla can't get a rear to fit now.

But I'm thinking about more teeth too, since I want the bike more focused for off road than on:
So this has 42:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JT-Rear-Spro ... Sw0T9cfqWV

And this has 44:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-SPROCKE ... Swaplcg6WP

Sizes look the same to me?

Chain
Well the choice is bewildering and I'm not too sure what I need, but found this for roughly the same price as Quadzilla are quoting
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DID-ER-520-1 ... SwGdtcwJsZ

Anyone got any opinions on those? I'm tempted to try the 44T rear sprocket.

I wouldn't bother with that chain....it's not designed for a long life, just to minimise power loss.

Get a DID X-ring, if you can afford it...they genuinely seem to last forever.

Greetings,

Depending upon the seriousness of where you ride, location of your UK green lanes or tough Asian environment, perhaps depends your choice.

If you can afford it then replace both sprockets and chain at the same time but for economy and reliability I find that best quality outlasts. Generally two front sprockets to one rear and one quality 'O' or 'X' type chain on my Serow and Alp. For serious competition riding then simply replace as a set.

Hi Paul get the front sprocket from quadzilla it fits better than the JT, also get the fixing ring as well from them...... the old one may be shot

The JT rear sprocket fits fine but you will need some new bolts as they are countersunk-https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apico-Motocr ... SwuZJZAbCY

the JT 42T will work well for you off road I have one but put a 40T back on as I'm more road orientated and needed it more relaxed at higher speed

I wrote about the 42T on page 75

Thanks v much for the advice everyone!

So my final shopping list is a DID x ring chain, 2 front sprockets from Quadzilla (might even get 3 in case they run out...) and a 40 or 42 tooth JT rear.

Looks like this will do it to me:

Any other WKs planning to go to the ABR festival next year?

Did you take into account that if you are fitting a 42T rear sprocket you may need an extra link or two on your chain length?

Ah, no I didn't. Thanks. I think I'm going to stick with 40t though since it seems I'll be looking for something more capable off road soon. I should sell the WK to off-set the new one really but will find it very hard (maybe impossible) to let go!

Hi, i just got me a Romet 400 ADV and was happy to read here about all the "specialities" of these bikes before buying.
It's the 2018 Model with E4 and ABS. With 2000km it's time to check the valve clearance now.
Here it gets complicated:
one manual says:
intake: 0.15 +/- 0.03
outlet: 0.15 +/- 0.03

another manual says:
in: 0.07 - 0.1
put: 0.08 - 0.12

How did you set yours?
