That letter from Renthal is disgusting!--there is a batch out there that is simply wrong and if fitted will allow the sprocket to slide off, or at least straddle the retaining groove-However, the chain will probably keep it running roughly in the right place--as long as the rear wheel is adjusted "in line". I would take them to court over this one--or at least trading standards as its a safety issue and needs a campaign recall.

Don't recall having to do this with a Honda but from the pics it looks like just turning the retaining plate 180 degrees would work ?

the OP (Andrew) in `Honda crf250 uk riders` tried it all ways and it would not fit.
Renthal would have soon sussed it, otherwise.

What amazed me about the post (apart from renthal)
is that there are four positions for the locking plate shape.
(front L, front R, back L, back R)
or at least there would be if the bolt holes were not offset, (R further than L from centre)
making for just 2 possible positions.

mmmm im not convinced ..if you try and put it on the wrong way around the bolt holes will not line up as one side is offset wider ..there are only two holes and when fitted over the splines if you have it wrong you can not get the bolts in .i dont think its possible ...

The splines also appear to be symmetrical about the horizontal axis. Btw
