CRF250L : .. bought new august 2016 .. .. ..
can anyone tell me .. my clutch is slipping/starting to slip/needs adjusting? .. (not checked it out after last ride) .. is it still under warranty, as it has had the 600 mile service, sept 2016, but not had the 8000 mile service as not yet reached that mileage ...... but....
it is well over a year since the last (600ml) service (must be every year min?) ?

ah right, minky ... so the clutch is not covered (probably) .. makes me wonder what IS.

but yes .. I would do the spadger/minky mod for a stronger clutch
(hope it IS cheap) .. edit ....£70 seems good

thanks for the reply

you never know your luck but most bikes are not covered for clutch wear ..brake pads ..disks ect ... if its deemed normal wear and tear its classed as a consumable ..usually
if honda did it for you they wouldnt put the stronger kit in ..so may be best just to bite the bullet and get it done

i used the ck1313 from the 250r and barnett heavy duty springs ..but you must remove the judder spring and washer from the o/e clutch basket before installing ... the clutch is stronger and engages quicker without it

no its not the same gary ..the last plate and steel will be twice the size in the 250 r kits

that is the weak point of the clutch the judder diaphram spring holds the clutch open until the spring flattens the diaphram ..thus creating a weak link in the clutch ...i guarantee the last steel in the basket will be as blue as the sea i had three shiney steel plates and this was the jone against the judder ..... mine was not worn out but its as plain as your face the last plate is getting real hot cos of the silly spring ...and the last thin friction plate will be worn noticably more than the others

it theoretical purpose is to soften the clutch in absence of a cush drive and protect the outputshaft ..but it is pretty usless at either

the diaphram spring will come out with the last plate ...you need to remove the big washer pictured below and the kit will fit right in with no bother ..its identical apart from the last plate ..once all thats out you will notice straight away the clutch hooks up stronger and quicker you can feel the difference ..so when you need to finger it in ruts or at stalling point in 2nd or third it feels much more direct
