Iv got a 2010 Fjr1300 Its done just over 44000 miles & theres loads about that have done a lot more. Pretty comfortable for all day riding altho I dont carry a pillion so not able to give an opinion on passanger comfort. Cant seem to find any pics with the luggage fitted at the moment.

Meant to say the pic above is with the seat in the low position & bars furthest back of the 3 positions.

Mike,

Any on that list will do the job but it will be your choice what fits the bill or not and that also includes your partners opinion,
I too still have an old K because I find them reliable but do not dismiss the jap ones the Honda ST 1100 or 1300 is just as good.
If you are looking for the ultimate in comfort or luggage capacity then you may need a Goldwing but that's another idea on its own

Me personally an FJR, I got as far as trying to buy one once from a reluctant seller. Second for me on that list would be the Honda and a mate is selling a nice one at present in Winchester although he is 6 foot plus and reckons it gives him a bad back but he has been used to a Blackbird previously. I reckon its an excuse for a change. :)

Wife loved touring on the back of the DL650. Long France trips no problem, Pyrenees too.
She loves the Vara thou even more.

ST1300 - plenty of good secondhand ones about with low(ish) miles, look for fitted extras like the wind deflectors, tank pads, luggage bags etc - that's what I did second time around. If I'm right; FJs don't come with top boxes and BMs don't seem to have mastered the art of colour coordinating their top boxes. But then I'm biased.

Out of that list I'd go for the Honda or the Yamaha, and avoid the 1200/1300 BMW's like the plague.

Despite having a few K100s I think I would be agreeing with this. But again, you can only make the decision trying it out 2 up.

Bear in mind that its easy to get a seat remade or to a different shape, if footpeg position is good and all the boxes are ticked then this should not be ruled out as an option. A lot of guys I know who travel long trips 2 up have done this, particularly with older bikes.

Ride a k 1600 nothing else comes close
Really coming down in price get a warranty
Done 21000 miles on min in 12 months carnt stop riding it
Really is good fun and does boring long miles with ease
NOT AS FAST ON A BIKE AS I THINK I AM

A ZZR1400 is an epic bike but not very comfortable for touring, especially if you are used to riding a proper touring bike. The riding position is more sports than touring I found. However if you want thrills it goes like nothing else ever made.
