Big fan of the givi tank bag system been using one for a few years now. I loop a strap over the bars so when filling with fuel the bag is still attached and I cant ride off without it.moto al wrote:Today I fitted a givi quick release tankbag , has anyone use one ,and any comments . I also fitted a big foot ,with the help of Franco ,unfortunately you can't use a paddock stand due to the design of the swinging arm.
The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.

The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

I know its just cosmetic problem , was just bit shocked that it only took one ride to ruin the finish of the wheels , 6 moths later still no response from Honda , great bike shame that the bean counters got involved .

Al, I've used the GIVI tank lock system on my last 3 bikes and love it. Really easy to take it off for fuelling. The only problem is I have the large bag and I can't see the clocks without leaning over the tankbag otherwise brilliant.moto al wrote:Today I fitted a givi quick release tankbag , has anyone use one ,and any comments . I have the exact same issue with my spokes after 3000 miles but as already said I'm waiting a bit longer as the two year warranty should sort this out, and I wont be taking any of that its 'wear and tear' bullshit either!
Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
You should report it , honda needs to know that the problem is wide spread , right now they think there are only few bikes with the problem as most owners have not reported it thinking the same way as you . I am waiting for the solution for 6 months now , just that you know .
Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
ZX is right, it should be reported right away on the basis of "not fit for purpose". If you delay it it will be so much easier for them to say wear and tear/winter riding etc.

If he told me that that was fair wear and tear - I'd take him around every single fucking used bike in his shop - of every make and model - and ask him - in an increasinlgy loud voice -
How old is this bike?
Are the spokes fucked?
So why are mine?!!!!
Next bike:
How old is THIS bike?

SO WHY ARE MINE?
Next Bike:
HOW OLD IS THIIISS BIKE??
You get the picture!
I would literally rip his argument to bits by pointing out that every ten year old bike in his shop had shiney decent spokes.
Wear and Tear??!!!
MY ARSE!!

WTF
My 9 year old/50k mile bike doesn't have rusty spokes so why are Honda selling new bikes that they are "aware" will be rusty after the first rainy day.
