So very true , great bike , paralel twin with enough punch , low fuel consumption , good looking IMO . (thumbs)gspod wrote:Best budget adventure bike in my book is the TDM 900.
Light, powerful enough for 2 up with camping gear, excellent fuel economy and Yamaha build quality and reliability. Even ok for 'big bike' off roading in Europe - although tyre choice is limited.
They were spurned (the 850 and 900) in this country but proving now to be ahead of their time. You can still get them for very little money although they are slowly gaining in popularity as people start to appreciate how good they are.

Re: Budget adventure bike
i have had 2 off your list, the Caponord and the 1000 Multistrada.
I had the Capo new is 04 until a scrote nicked in 07 which 20,00 on it - brilliant bike, when the engine loosened up it 5k it was great to ride. Reliability was faultless and the build quality excellent.
The Multi was more road orientated, with its 17in front wheel, it did go off piste though. A hoot to ride, never let me down, toured Europe on it 4 times without hiccups ( The Dolomites in a Duke is very special!)

Only problem I have with the TDM in this company, is 75bhp.
Tiger and V-Strom Thou are both above 100bhp and have as much power as you'll ever need on the road.

Have you thought about a 1000 Varadero?

Don't forget if you're considering a V-Strom to also look at the Kwak KL1000V

Big heavy Mutha's I agree, I own one! But don't rule out a FI version, better economy and performance and a wonderful mile muncher. And they WILL go off road, albeit not too much mud please (thumbs)Will wrote:Had a carb model few years back didn't really gel with it-Ralph- wrote:Have you thought about a 1000 Varadero?
And never, never, never drop it off road without a crane or two mates being handy!!
