I was looking forward to seeing this Phil, but tbh the stats are the same as many other adventure style bikes in this sector. I think I'd stick with the BMW 800GS or Triumph Tiger 800XC.

Thing is - everyone was looking for a 190kg (wet) 1000cc bike at 125bhp, that was capable of all sorts....

But maybe they just can't do it for the sort of money the average guy on the street can afford.

You can probably do it for £30k - but in the £10-£13k range - this and the others are probably about it.

But it feels a bit newer and fresher - and I've loved previous Hondas - and the GS800 is really ugly, bless it (even though its a great bike of course).

The Tigers don't seem to cut the mustard particularly - so maybe this might be the best of the 800-1000cc class.

We'll see - at least stuffs happening (thumbs)

Oh Dear

My AT (RD07a)

207kgs dry, 242 kgs wet including all the extras I have on it

My tank is 23ltrs and no doubt the newer version might be slightly more fuel efficient but 18.8 ltrs is still low for a litre adventure bike

Power is supposed to be 60 bhp but I reckon low 50s after 74,000 miles of spirited riding

Torque is 38

On paper it would appear that the new base model AT benefits from an 18 inch rear, more power and torque, updated suspension and almost 30 years younger

I always new I'd be lkeeping mine and had no intention of trading in

My RD04 Marathon is lighter, gruntier and faster than my RD07a

It will be interesting to run these back to back

Disappointing

Specs are identical to the KTM 1050 apart from 21/18 wheel set which could be easily overcome & the KTM has a stonking V twin engine to boot

I reckon KTM should now revise the 1050 this autumn with 21/18 wheels & fully adjustable WP suspension at both ends - which is simple & easy for them to do

KTM have a game changer within their grasp & the ability to spoil the new AT launch

KTM should go for it .....

I think we are being let down slowly.
It would be very expensive to produce a genuine out of the box comfy, 90mph cruising, sub150kg, 150mile+ range trail missile.
KTM 690 Adventure? Ride it across Europe in (Relative) comfort in the fast lane, then smash it like a 450 on the tails.
The best combo for me is a 450 enduro and a van.
