Ive not long bought a 2005 Gasgas 300raga for £1500 and its great fun pissing around on. Parts are easy to get and the bike is easy to work on. (thumbs)

If my budget was a little bigger I would have gone for a Beta Evo 250.

Agree with the others, a cleans tidy Rev 3 will only be around £1400, spares are cheap, easy to look after then if you get into it you can change without losing any money.
I've just changed to a mont 4rt and currently loving it, little bit more aggressive than the beta rev4T I had before.
Then:
Honda MB5, Honda MBX125, 350LC, RGV250, MTX125, GasGas JTX250, CM 644 DS, BMW R1100S, Beta Rev3 250, Beta Rev4T, Honda XL700V Transalp, BMW F800 GS, Kawasaki Super Sherpa
Now:
Montesa 4RT, Triumph Tiger 800, Beta Alp, Montesa 315

Great condition and only been used for fun so no bent and wrecked parts. Obviously has some marks though. £2000 though

Personally I can't see the point of paying (on average) a premium for road registered, where are going to ride it? You won't do many miles, then you've got the expense of MOT, tax and insurance.

To the op, if you're on fb get yourself on to trials bike talk and info, there's always bikes coming up on there.

I got my scorpa in January and I've been out on it virtually every weekend since.

Current bikes...

2003 KTM 950 adventure in silvery blue...

2013 KTM 450 exc-f in orange /white

2007 Scorpa SY250 trials in blue.
