Garage ornament then.
KTM 1290 Super Adventure T - Power!
KTM 690 Enduro R - lighter to pick up
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 - Fun.

Even our dogs are orange.

Only bikers understand why dogs put their heads out of car windows.

Preservation :)

1150 GSA - I have an everyday one & a mint one

However it's my choice to own 2

I like riding the 1150 GSA's in preference to newer bikes & I like to keep the mint one I've owned from new for sunny Sundays only now

Call me a cynic, but I wonder how many miles it did with a broken speedo drive, common fault apparently http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181991

Gotta love ebay descriptions too

"I have owned this bike for almost 2 years... I can only imagine the original owner watched the series... went to BMW and ordered this bike, only to then park it in the garage for the next 10 years! It's NEVER been ridden in the rain, off road, dropped or seen any real hard work"

If he can only imagine what the original owner did with the bike, how does he know it's NEVER seen rain or mud? Or NEVER been dropped and repaired?

Not in much of a position to criticise the original owner about not riding it either, when he's had it 2 years and it's still only done £6k and he's selling it as part of a promise to the wife because he hasn't used it.

My BMW dealer had a few customers the same

Saw C&E in LWR & ordered a new 1150 GSA full loaded

Saw C&E in LWD & ordered a new 1200 GSA, fully loaded - even had the tiger stripes painted on tank panels

Some of them didn't even have a bike licence, never took their test (even though they intended to)

Some sold them with 5 miles on the clock & others still have them in their billiard rooms of large houses

I once sold a bike to a 'collector' in Brighton - about 7 years ago

It was a 'new' 1982 Yam TY175 - he just wanted it for his 'man cave' - a £100k oak 2 storey barn, in the grounds of a large house

The barn was filled with a bar, juke boxes, pool table, proper AMF 10 pin bowling lane, a few bikes & 70's cars - a McQueen style Mustang

He just collected stuff & was a city trader, who was a millionaire - he never even had a bike licence

Bloke across the road from me had one and now has a newer 'adventure' version, all the kit panniers, top box, crash bars extra lighting...looks ready for anything.

To be fair it does get ridden, for an hour or 2 at a time on nice days.
His money, he can do what he likes with it, I certainly would'nt want to try rationalise my own spending, but it does make me chuckle when I see him done up like he's off to cross continents only to return a couple of hours later on his spotless adventure bike
