Hi All (thumbs)
New to ABR after many years on HU and really enjoying the more light hearted atmosphere that this site has.
Always had Commando's since my first 750 in 1975 at the tender age of 17 and 3 weeks, after passing my test on a Garelli Tiger Cross, with one pedal removed! Those were the days and still have Norton through me like a stick of rock.
My three questions are about the new 961.
* Has anyone toured on one?
* What is the highest mileage one of these little beauties has racked up?
* What are they like to ride?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Chris

It's mainly a US based forum but they have sections for the 961, Classic Commandos and then other model Nortons.
A lot of the discussions are about race bikes but it's a mine of information and everyone is happy to help with any questions.
I've used it a lot while restoring my 850 Commando and even down to asking for the length of the original rear brake cable got the correct answer and proved that the previous owner had bought one designed for use with rearset footrests.

Are they for sale??? And what's the waiting list??????????The dealer ,in Scotland who Iv known for over 20 years told me the company is a nightmare to deal with. I posted this info a few years ago on ABR . Then their was some some very bad story's ,as reported on this site.maybe they have got their act together  .. Ps my first trip abroad aged 19 was on a 1972 norton interstate , a geat bike and very happy memory's . (thumbs) al

I rode one around the block. That's about as far as I'd want to go.

Well there were these 2 dudes in the 50's who had a 1939 norton 500cc single who decided to go 2 up across South America, across the Andes and all that. I don't think much came of it one got shot somewhere he had some crazy ideas about revolution the other founded schools was a scientist apparently there is a book of their exploits. Che someone and Alberto someone. Books called motorcycle diaries.
Anyway if they managed what they did 2 up I'm sure you will be fine!
Went all round the uk on a 1972 BSA thunderbolt 650 in 1998 all good only 2 issues but easily fixed, was fun if a little slow.
Welcome btw.
