Well I went and done it. Not really had chance to give it a good blast due to work but it's miles apart from my last bike. The only problem is that it's rather quiet. Need to have a look at replacing the exhaust soon.

Funnily enough I have just bought a new bike and may be selling mine for £1800 to £1900.

Hey there, thanks for an informative and interesting read here. I'm considering looking at buying a Herald 250 and certainly feel inspired by what you have all written.

From photos I've seen, they don't look to have a centre stand - is that correct? If so, how do you find that? I ride a Honda CG125 at the moment and probably use the centre stand 80% of the time and imagine I'd miss not having one. It leaves the bike in a better position when locking it to a fence or lamp post. I wonder if this is a feature that can be fitted upon request...

What's it like with a passenger? Has anyone any experiences of how the bike handles with two, and whether if feels powerful enough for it?

Having recently got my full license, I'm after something more powerful than my current 125, something still nimble for around London, but something which doesn't struggle or feel like it's over revving at 65 or 70 mph, and something I can take further afield and with a passenger. I'd been thinking of something more like a two cylinder 350-400cc, but then I saw the Herald and wondered whether it would suit my needs. The issue of the long fifth gear presumably means that at higher speeds the engine is not screaming away? My other criterioa was a retro, non plastic look... What do people think?

Cheers,

Hal

I would suggest that the 250 is underpowered for regular pillion use especially as the high top gear means there is not a lot of "pull" in top. Also at 6'2 there isn't a great deal of room for a pillion on the seat. The suspension however is a little frim for single use and would easily cope with the extra weight of a pillion. As a city bike it is great due to being very nippy and agile.

Can't help with the centre stand issue as I only need one for lubing the chain.

i dont think a 250 is that underpowered...it will take you from point A to point B in most places with no problem and really affordable.

i came across this 250cc chopper motorcycle thats selling for $2k with free shipping and apparently is road legal all over the USA. Has anybody every purchased from this website belmonte bikes?
