Very happy with mine, wind noise and buffeting can be an issue for some, the winglets are a must they seemed to make the most difference to me. I have a skidmarx taller screen on mine and its fine for me, the only other screen i would have fitted is a Givi airflow ( i had one on my 1200 gs before and it cured the buffeting/turbulence issue on that. The lights aren't bad and the extra driving lamp kit is expensive but they are very good, i drive in Scotland regularly in the dark on small roads so wildlife is an issue..the more lights the better. The standard Yamaha luggage isn't that good, mine came with it on so i'm managing with it (i have cut and extra spare key so i don't risk bending a main key using the panniers, its a bit poor but i've not had problem yet), maybe worth investing in some ARD etc panniers. I really like the motor, plenty of low down pull and the transmission is pretty smooth. Some people report a bit of vibration, it can be down to having the throttle bodies synched, i found mine really smoothed out at 8000 miles ish. Its not used a drop of oil and i generally get around 52 mpg, and 56 mpg on motorway runs (i don't ride that hard though but do quite a bit two up) so quite similar to my 1200gs. The spokes are prone to tarnishing, mine have a bit bit as its only cosmetic i'm not to worried about that, overall its not missed a beat so far, ride-fuel-ride repeat. The only thing i'd change it for at the moment is one of the newer ones but as theres nothing wrong with this one i'll be keeping it for quite a while.

I should add the vibration was due to the tall screen and topper that I have on it I can ride along with my Visor open at 80 with this on I did try the OE screen but just throws the wind into my chest and face

Had mine 3 years, best bike I've ever owned (and there's been a few) Been a long standing Tenere fan and my 1200 S10 replaced the original 750 S10 and I've since added a 660 10 to the collection aswell.

In 3 years it's never missed a beat and is all day comfortable although due to an ongoing knee issue I do need to add some touring pegs to the engine bars so I can straighten my right leg on a long run. I'm a big lad at 6'3" and over 20 stone but it copes with me and all my camping gear admirably well.

The spokes are crap and will be replaced with Stainless eventually apart from that and some other tarnishing of alloy bits it's all good. I would replace it but only with either a world crosser or a new one but this hasn't done enough miles to justify the expense of upgrading it yet.

Just get one bought you will not regret it.

Big Tim
