Re: The Suzuki DR thread.
Double-check all connections are clean and good.
Are you wired direct to the battery, or via a switched feed (ie into the bike's wiring loom so the grips only come on when the ignition is on)?
If the latter, that is where the problem is most likely to be.
If that doesn't sort it, then it may be that the battery or alternator are not up to the job.
Run the bike with the lights on...do the lights dim when the grips are switched on..if so, you are drawing too much current.
Have your grips got the Oxford Smart Controller?
The way to get that to work is to initially run the grips at 100% power, then reduce power as the grips warm.
I've got an ancient set of standard Oxford grips on my KTM...the original rotary controller failed, Blue (UK) of this forum kindly supplied me with a used replacement, which also eventually failed, and I got a replacement Smart Controller from Machine Mart, of all places.
The Smart Controller supposedly won't draw more power out of the battery than goes in.
I hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks for your reply Richard
Wired directly to the battery and are new. The batter is good according to my optimate.
I also didn't have the headlight on.
I'll have another look tonight, but I am thinking the smart controller may be faulty?

Greetings,
Make sure that all earth connections are clean and electrically sound as many 'faults' such as you describe are because of high resistance back to the battery.
