Re: The Suzuki DR thread.
I went down the RMZ route and very pleased with the results. Also got a YSS rear shock to spec. With the suspension sorted the bike is completely different, expensive (had to get a 320 disc and callipers to use the 450 wheel) but worth it.PHILinFRANCE wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:53 am I'd already gone for intimators ,or what ever they are called , drop straight in the top and i have to say made a hell of big differance BUT the FFRC looks far better
I went for a WILBER shock and do like it but again an OHLINS is probably better but buckets more money
I have been toying with the idea of doing a RMZ450 full swap

So Phil, I'm intrigued as to how you got those disc bolts out in the end as I have the same job to do on one of my bikes. Did you cut slots and use an impact driver?
Please share your technique with us oh wise one;)
Thanks, Neil.

OH WISE ONE
Hi Neil i'd tried all the proper routes to no avail so ended up cutting the bolt heads off with a grinder , i use those very thin discs , once the heads were off i cut a slit in the top of each bolt and while still hot used a punch and just hammered them round until loose and then they came out easy, they did have blue loctite on them aswell so i must have done the job right in the first place
Have to say aswell that front disc was fitted by me over 70,000 kms ago and done a lot of shitty stuff so well worth the money

Re: The Suzuki DR thread.
Hi everyone ..having relatively recently become the owner of Bob's DR350 I was looking at the carb today and noticed the little microswitch on the RH side of the carb which makes (or breaks?) a circuit when the throttle is fully open. Having googled around people say it retards the timing apparently only in 1st 2nd and 3rd ..something to do with emissions from what i read. If this is so ..and please tell me otherwise if you know, why does it only operate in those gears and also how would retarding the ignition at almost full throttle reduce any emissions? Wouldn't retarding the ignition simply reduce the power a little by lighting the fuel later rather than the optimal position for power and why would you want to do this.? Please someone educate me!
thanks in advance
