Best bike two up ????

Post by Kinioo »

Hi All,

I know, I know it has probably been covered several times but anyway...

Would like to know your thoughts / recommendations here:

Best bike two up. What I (we) am (are) after.

a) not to heavy/;
b) not to high (I am 5.9ft);
c) enough power;
d) good (yes, yes i think it should be 'a' on my list) comfort for pillion passenger
e) ideally suitable to use with aftermarket alu cases;
f) good wind protection;
g) reliable

I do own a XT660Z - so dont tell me about this one (love it anyway but my wife not really).
I know GS1200ADV are great (some will say 'the best'....but I think too big for me/us probably same with big tenere)

Let me have your thoughts here.

BMW GS is the best 2up Adv bike no question

It's because of the Telelever which means you get no fork dive

Brilliant 2up bikes from the 1100 GS onwards

Shame at 5'9 you will struggle & too big for you

Well there was this girl at sixth form in Great Yarmouth. She was a bit heavy though...
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I'm 5'6" & ride a standard GSA two up - with my 20 year old 12stone son on the back (thumbs)

Only concession to lack of inches is a standard low seat - I have to watch out for adverse cambers when I stop, & it's only one foot down when stationary, but otherwise no issues

Are you only looking for an ADV style bike?
I did once see a Harley with aluminium boxes fitted but it didn't look right :silly:

Have you considered getting the existing seat on your XT sculpted specifically for you and your wife? A lot cheaper than getting another bike ;)

Make your own....

If it was available in the dealers I'm sure it'd be a big seller. Thing is they are trying to make bikes to suit all shapes and sizes.

The 2015 Harley-Davidson range has a lowered Electraglide, designed for 5'5" riders to get both feet flat on the floor. It has its own luggage and an armchair on the back for the boss. (O.K. for this site it's a bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment but other manufacturers could take note on the seat height thing.)
