Re: Kawasaki KLX 450R
He'll be along soon but we did a Pyrennes trip a while back me and Boboneleg on DR 650 and the KLX was bloody great , Steves a big lad and the bike just kept pulling with what seemed no effort , the only down side was when traveling at a steady 80mph on the autoroute his moose exploded !!!
I'M HERE FOR A GOOD TIME NOT A LONG TIME

Re: Kawasaki KLX 450R
I may be mistaken but isn,t the Kawasaki KLX450R almost the same bike as the Suzuki RMX 450Z. I believe they threw in their lot together to develop a bike cheaper. Obviously there are colour and style changes.

That was the DRZ 400 which they re badged as a KLX400, it's was the same but with green plastics!frenchy3 wrote:I may be mistaken but isn,t the Kawasaki KLX450R almost the same bike as the Suzuki RMX 450Z. Re: Kawasaki KLX 450R
I sold the KLX reluctantly in January to a friend who knew the bike and turned up at my house and wouldn't leave until I'd sold it to him!
I had it for 4 years and I'd give it 95/100....only let down by the feeble stock battery and a reluctance to tick over and come off choke until it was really warmed up.
I used it for trail riding, The All Terrain Rally and long distance rough road travel.
Bullet proof engine, good stock suspension and powerful, I'd say it was very much in the ballpark of My KTM450EXC.
As Phil says we did a tour around the Pyrenees, it did blow a main fuse, but Kawasaki supply a new one in a clip next to the fuse holder, so it was a 10 minute fix.
Here it is just before I set off to Phil's for our trip a couple of years ago....

I'm looking right now for 450cc and debating over ktm 450exc, wr450f and klx450r.SteveW wrote:Bullet proof engine, good stock suspension and powerful, I'd say it was very much in the ballpark of My KTM450EXC.

Wonder what is your opinion on the klx comparing to ktm. Why klx is so much cheaper then the other two.
Re: Kawasaki KLX 450R
I think Kawasaki don't push the KLX450r. It's more popular in America.robson wrote:I'm looking right now for 450cc and debating over ktm 450exc, wr450f and klx450r.SteveW wrote:Bullet proof engine, good stock suspension and powerful, I'd say it was very much in the ballpark of My KTM450EXC.

The KLX isn't cheap because it's a bad bike, but it's not as highly developed as a KTM or WR.
You can pick up a bargain. It's a solid bike with great Torque, it'll lift the front off the throttle in 3rd and top 100mph.
Re: Kawasaki KLX 450R
Remember that time in the peaks on that lane? I could not catch you on my 450 exc and we were both flat out from when you opened it up.
tbh all three of those engines (assuming ktm MY12 -17) are bulletproof. I'd say the WR the most robust of all.

Yes I remember, I don't think the KLX is lacking in power verses any 450cc enduro.Mike54 wrote:Remember that time in the peaks on that lane? I could not catch you on my 450 exc and we were both flat out from when you opened it up.
