well I had a nice two hr test ride on one from Pure Triumph Bham
Nice bike?
Dunno really as I was comparing it to my 1150GSA BMW
As a result
No not really my cuppa T
to buzzy
always changing gear ( 6 off)
crap screen
very twitchy on wet roads
I had to sit mostly on the pillion to ride it
VERY HEAVY cable clutch ( my hand ached after two hrs)
on a high point
Excellent brakes & mirrors
But that is no reason to spend £7749 on one
add to that it needs extra's like
centre stand
higher screen
heated grips
engine bars
sump guard
This puts it at nearer £8400 to £8500 On the Road

So on balance

I'm staying BMW

Nice bike but not for me or over 6'00" footers ( I'm 6'02")
and my wife said it looked like a moped growing out of my
"Aspidesta"

Dooh

I so wanted it to be Tony the tiger " Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat"

Magwa

PS I was offered a very good PX against my GSA !

A bit like comparing a YZF-R125 to an R6. Surely you would have been better off taking a V-Strom 1000 out for a test to compare with the GSA? Of course it will be more "buzzy" - 1150cc twin = slow revving... 800cc triple = bound to be more revvy!

I've seen this "comparrison" from other BMW riders on other forums saying that it doesn't come with the heated grips... the higher screen... etc... NEITHER DOES THE BMW! :pinch:

You are comparing a first attempt from a 20 year old company to what is the top of the range standard setter for this kind of bike from the company who invented adventure bikes! Who's gonna win that one, eh?

Just my thoughts... no offence meant!

Someone, I think it was Treadtrader, told me over the weekend a very similar tale about the 'fit' of the 800. Apparently, if you're a big lad, you can forget about carrying a pillion unless you like sitting on top of one another.

A couple of things I've yet to read about are the 800's ability to handle a fully loaded touring set up and what it's like two-up. My only real gripe with the 955i is it's absolutely crap with a pillion on-board.

I'd agree with your missus, you make that bike look like a tonka toy.

You will probably be better off waiting for the triumph1200. It does look kind a small on you. The xc would be way to big for me.

Just looking at your picture Id have guest you were about 6'7 but your are 6'2.
Let me tell you where I am,

I'm out.

If company's start making bikes for small people then they will totally loose sales from tall people.
A small person can ride a big bike with a little confidence, and look great on it. But a tall person wont ride a little bike because they look stupid and uncomfortable.

Kinda the same comments I levelled at the BMW 800 when I first rode it,however, after a couple of days I really liked it and I had come from a Zed thou. I think the Triumph will do well as it will suit a large proportion of riders, but not me it has to be said.

I've seen one in the flesh but haven't tried sitting on one yet. I am quite keen on buying one as a 2nd bike to keep the miles off my Varadero, which is my two up tourer.
Agreed, Magwa makes it look tiny, hopefully he's a giant and the bike's not the bad!
I'll write up a review as soon as I can test ride one, open night at our local dealers on the 20th.

Well I am 6'02" 15stone 6lb size 12 feet and short legs at 31" ISL
the bike is 'Tiny' and my last Triumph Tiger 900 was a giant bike in comparison
this is the reason I really wanted to replace my BMW with another tiger
but its not going to happen......dooh
( I'm a Triumph fan and have had three hinckley models)

For the money I could have a fully kitted 1200GSA of about 2007/8 vintage
That will be the way I go

heres my old Triumph Tiger below, sold for an africa twin which was sold for the 1150GSA ;)

I also make the GSA look......small but not as small as the Triumph TIGER 800XC
