Re: Repsol project is nearly done!
A touch of genius there mate. Was this technique an experiment or something you picked up from elsewhere?CRAIGREVO wrote:Mud guard is now finished ready for fitting tomorrow. :woohoo:
That's it I think, apart from a couple of decals here and there the project is done. B)

Re: Repsol project is nearly done!
Thanks guys
It didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but after applying all the decals (hiding the mistakes) I'm really happy with it.
I first saw this trick on radio control body shells, and its used a lot with air brush painting. So I figured Id have a crack at it with a spray can. I could always paint over it if it went badly wrong.Lancastermick wrote:

Re: Repsol Honda is done!
Thanks John, as for the masking, I used a tape measure and marked points where it was crucial to be right "or as good as". After that I measured off the first line.john_aero wrote:lad that bike looks great,

To get the spaces between the wobbly line the same, I put a peace of 2" masking tape across the tank and measured of the line. Then I drew the wobbles on the tape and cut it with a craft knife.
I then pealed the bottom half off and stuck it to the bottom of the tape on the other side of the tank.
All the time petering my missus, "does this look straight"
Hope that makes sense to you.
If you're after an @ the best place to watch is the XRV forum they are always on there but you have to be quick to get a bargain. Yesterday an RD04 went for a grand. hmy:

I figured paint would chip off, so I left the middle as that's the bit that gets hammered. B)

Just seen this thread,
respect
you've done a great job, from the design to the execution. well done
Have you offered your design services to Jonathan at Rugged Roads. I'm sure that new addition of his will be getting some RR treatment.
