How big does a bike have to be - before it's classed as an Adventure Bike?

Post by dragonwheels »

I ride a Husky 630sm which I guess qualifies 'cos I've slapped a Tourance on the back, but what about the AJP Ultrapassar, Long Distance Trial bike I've got coming for mixed use...is it too small (200cc)or too specialised - just wondering what people consider to be an "Adventure Bike"

It's not what you ride, it's how you ride it and what adventures you get into. cheers Spud ;)

Ask Ed March.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

My first bike was a CB100N,1981. It took me on my first trip to europe and that started it all........Motorcycling has been an Adventure since. I have a Transalp 650 and I'd go RTW tomorrow on it. I know I should only comment on what I'v ridden but The Crf250L or the unreleased 450 version could be a great Adventure bike.

I think the Adventure is what your soul needs and the bike is the means and at times your only companioned.

i would say 49cc as that is what can be legally registered as a moped/motorcycle so you can adventure wherever your wallet and ethusiasm will allow!

Ask Snoopy,

www.Andrewcharnley.com

He's currently riding RTW and is in Dubai with 'bad guts' on a wee Honda PCX125

How about Nathans 'postie bike' 110cc?
Met these two 49cc machines in Nouakchott Mauritania on the 2006 Dakar rally.

yep agree with all the above..I went from Lancashire to Paris and back on a honda mt50 when 17..it was a Adventure in the truest word as I`s only ever been Abroad once before then a s a family so all alone..but not for long :cheer:

I do think people talk to you when aboard a small bike compared to a big gsa thingy..always asking where your going , where you been..the stories etc etc..

so sling that leg over whatever you ride and enjoy the trip
