Heat shield on 890 Adventure

Post by BigTwinLover »

Recently begun riding a 2022 bike which I'm enjoying lots.
When riding slowly a lot of heat appears from the massive catalyst box in the exhaust - reminding me of the nut-roasting 1190 Adv!

Camel, one of the USA dirt accessories firms make a beautiful heat shield for this model https://camel-adv.com/products/ktm-790- ... eat-shield - it's TIG-welded alloy sheet and ceramic coated.
However wanting to 'try before I buy' I knocked this up DIY heat shield IMG_1351.jpeg Image out of a piece of galvanised steel scrap I had. A jubilee clip and a 90 degree fold at the front hold it snug onto the box-section swinging-arm, and I didn't see need to secure it to the frame.
It's not as pretty as the US piece, but then who actually looks down there? And in recent 30 degree weather it has made a big difference.
