+1 for inReach.
Easy to use, pre-set text messages, trackable by the loved ones at home and worldwide SOS feature ( don't accidentally activate it though: ££££££)

Hi Paul
You never tell your wife where you are going even when you disappear for a month

Apple watch has it built in.
Detects a fall or sudden stop and then no movement and calls the emergency services with your location.
Switched off as standard. You also get the chance to cancel the call before it gets made.

Only because I don't know where I'm going Steve; heading East could be anywhere!
Re: Solo rider emergency help spot 3 alternative?
Some years ago I put a free app on my old iPhone from the Essex % Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT). One touch on the icon brings up a map showing your position and map reference and with two other touch points.
One is red saying "Call Emergency Services"
The other is green saying "Activate SOS Flashlight"
PROBLEM. I can't find it in the App Store or any reference to it on the EHAAT site. I have no idea whether it works and am not about to, or hope to have to, try it out!
Something simple like this must be out there.
Edit:
Just found this that can be used by anyone not just kids. Just shake the phone!
