G650GS - Adjustable rear brake lever?

Post by Geecee68 »

Hi there,

I have a 2012 BMW G650GS, and I'm searching for a way to bring up the level of the rear brake lever so its easier to use when wearing hard boots. I've been looking online for an adjustable replacement, but nothing has jumped out. I picked up one of the cheap £8 ones from Ebay to see if that might be modable in some way. I could probably do something but its not exactly elegant. Any ideas anyone?

Thank you!

Have you had a look at Touratech or Wunderlich?
They have done stuff for other BMW’s in the past and may list one for the 650 single.

From memory (I had one in 2010/11) the brake lever is made from coated steel, so option 1 would be to cut the lever and weld on a backing to lift the lever up, linish down and paint. the small gap would be filled with weld, so would not be seen.

Option 2 would be to add something on top of the lever, maybe a rubber footpeg cover, bolted through to below.

Hope your bike is going OK, I had all sorts of issues with mine, hot non-starting being the worst, so got rid of it fairly quickly.

There was a recall to sort out the hot non start problem if I remember correctly.
May be worth the OP checking with BMW of there and outstanding recalls or product updates etc.

Got one of these. It's made from sub meccano grade steel. I dropped the bike on grass and it disintegrated.

I went for the reassuringly expensive Wunderlich option after an Ebay dud. Beautifully machined and works perfectly.
