Hi folks just wondering what you all use for the repairs of tubed tyre punctures as ive never had tubed tyres before and have no idea how to remove a tyre from a motorcycle wheel I've done the push bike repairs patches etc but don't know much about motorcycle tyre removal or what is entailed tools/patches etc

Oh and is there anyone local in the Manchester area that would be willing to give me some sort of tutorial as to how too take off the tyre etc

If you can do a bicycle then you can do a motorbike.

Just think bigger harder and more lube.

Admittedly the KTM wheels can be a bitch to do, especially trying to break the bead.

Yesterday it took me just over the hour to swap out both front and rear tyres and I am not that fast compared to some

If you do a search I am pretty sure someone put up a tutorial thread on here a while back.

If trail riding I generally only carry one spare tube that's the 21" front it will fit the rear wheel.

Of late I have found that puncture repairs don't seem to last the glue seems to break down and delaminate the patch.
Im using a marine grade rubber glue at the moment to see if that gives better results.

I've been unfortunate and got a double PUNCTURE both front and back both sidewall damage so I'm getting new tyres and tubes been quite lucky as my finance on the bike comes with tyre insurance so it should only cost me the cost of the new tubes but thinking of carrying 2 tubes in future and learning too change them myself

I've also found the patches come off nowadays, so I carry spare tubes and just change them. If I was on a trip and didn't have access to another tube after changing I'd have a go at pat hing again just as a stop gap. Solo they seem ok but two up and at speed the weight causes more heat and they come off.
Like said above the procedure is the same for bicycle........more or less

If your patching I recommend the ones with the orange bit round the sides you can also get motorcycle specific patches which are thicker. Use loads of glue!

I tried 2 times to mend this at the ABR in the field and failed miserably because the patches were poor quality
